Since we are all volunteers and we all have families and
pets of our own to care for, we do not disclose our home phone numbers. We
ask that you please visit the site before emailing us about questions that are
probably already answered on the website. Some of the most common
questions asked are:
Q. I didn't buy my puppy at a pet store, can you
still help me find information about the breeder?
A. No. It's not that we don't want to help,
but with an estimated 300,000 - 500,000 puppies a year sold in pet stores, we
must focus our attention on this aspect of the regulated dog industry.
Other outlets for puppies, such as flea markets, newspaper ads, internet, etc.
are seldom regulated and therefore we are unable to obtain information that will
help you.
Q. Can you tell me what size the parents of my puppy
are? Can you give me information on registering my puppy? Do you
have photos of the parents of my puppy?
A. No, to all three. In short, unlike the
breeder, broker, and pet store where your puppy originated, we made absolutely
no profit off of your puppy. It is the "job" of the pet store, broker and
breeder to answer these questions for you. We have no way of obtaining
this information, though we will attempt to provide you with contact information
for the breeder and broker of your puppy so that you can request this
information directly from these sources.
Q. Do you provide interviews or work with the media?
A. Yes. We ask that you email us, and
include "media inquiry" in the subject line. We answer email daily and
will get back with you as quickly as possible. We have worked with most
mainstream media outlets throughout the years and are respectful of
confidentiality and credibility.
Q. This website came up when I did a search for the
breeder of my puppy? Are you the breeder of my puppy, or do you know them?
A. No, we are not breeders. If your
breeder's name came up on our website, more than likely the breeder is in our
databases. Please fill out a puppy report request if you obtained your
puppy from a pet store. Q. This website
came up when I did a search on my own name. Are you calling me a puppy
mill? Remove my name from your website immediately or I will seek legal
action against you! A. In order to target pet shop customers, we have included search indexes that
include all individuals and businesses that are, or have been, licensed by the
USDA. Since USDA licenses more than just dog breeders, no assumption
should be made that a search term is a dog breeder, or if they are a dog
breeder, that they have any violations of the AWA. Information obtained
from USDA is public information and readily available through the Freedom of
Information Act. Because our databases contain over 100,000 entries, we
are not staffed to adjust databases when someone notifies us that they are not
dog breeders, or are no longer licensed by USDA. We are violating no laws that we are aware of in regards
to publishing licensees, past or present, under the Animal Welfare Act. Your attorney may
address his/her concerns to us by using the contact information provided on this
page. |
